Cyber Battle of Tartu was a regional CTF held in Tartu area, Estonia, for high school, vocational school and univeristy students.
The event started with a pre-week on crash course and studying with CybExer trainers for high school students, for whom it was their first contact with Linux.
In the end, 42 highly motivated students finished Boot Camp and graduated to the final CTF.
Cyber Battle of Tartu CTF was held on October 31st 2020 for 12 high school and vocational school teams + 5 university teams.
The CTF was not an average Jeopardy-style game, but an action story where the teams took a role of vigilant white hat hackers in a city that was under the attacks of an unknown adversary.
Teams had to put their skills into good use under heavy pressure, as the story escalated from attacks on school learnign system, CCTV cameras and vending machines to the local hospital.

Human lives and welfare was in danger as the attacker misconfigured infusion pumps and oxygen delivery systems, distributed ransomware and sought chaos - teams had to reactivate equipment and find clues about the hackers.
In total, players had to master web hacking and reconnaissance, digital forensics, cryptography, steganography, network packet capture analysis and other fields of cybersecurity.
The CTF was held in a grand gala format, hosted by Karl-Erik Taukar in the new Delta building of University of Tartu.
